Monday Mood Check: What Version of You Showed Up Today?

Because Monday doesn't always get the version of us we planned to bring.

It's Monday.

The alarm went off.

Someone couldn't find a shoe.

Someone else couldn't find their homework.

Someone needed breakfast.

Someone needed a ride.

You forgot where you put your coffee.

And somehow, you're already thinking about what you're making for dinner.

Yep. Monday is officially here.

But before we decide that today has to be productive, organized, and completely under control, let's have a little fun.

So...What Version of You Showed Up Today?

A. The "I've Got This" Mom

You're up early.

Coffee is made.

Everyone has matching socks.

Breakfast happened.

The lunches are packed.

You may even know what's for dinner.

Honestly?

We're impressed.

Enjoy this moment. Take the win.

Because tomorrow might look completely different.

B. The "We're Just Going to Make It" Mom

You got everyone where they needed to go.

Nobody left the house barefoot.

You remembered most of the things.

Breakfast may have been a granola bar.

Your coffee may have been reheated three times.

But everybody made it out the door.

That counts.

Sometimes a successful Monday isn't about crushing your to-do list.

Sometimes it's simply getting through the morning.

C. The "What Day Is It?" Mom

You woke up confused.

You checked the calendar.

You checked it again.

You may have accidentally said "Happy Friday" to someone.

It's Monday.

Unfortunately.

But don't worry.

You're not alone.

D. The "I Need a Minute" Mom

Maybe the weekend wasn't restful.

Maybe you're carrying something from last week.

Maybe you're overwhelmed before the week has even started.

Maybe you just need five quiet minutes where nobody asks you for anything.

That's okay.

You don't have to feel energized just because it's Monday.

Take a breath. Start slowly.

You can still have a good week.

E. The "Let's See What Happens" Mom

You have absolutely no idea what this week is going to look like.

And honestly?

You're okay with that.

The calendar isn't completely planned.

Dinner is TBD.

The laundry is doing whatever the laundry wants to do.

But you're showing up.

And sometimes that's enough.

Whatever Version of You Showed Up Today...

We're glad you're here.

You don't have to be the most productive version of yourself every Monday.

You don't have to wake up motivated.

You don't have to have a five-step morning routine.

You don't have to meal prep seven dinners.

You don't have to clean the entire house.

You don't have to answer every message.

You don't have to accomplish everything.

You just have to start somewhere.

Maybe today that means tackling the laundry.

Maybe it means answering one email.

Maybe it means taking the kids outside.

Maybe it means making an appointment you've been putting off.

Maybe it means asking for help.

Maybe it means sitting down for five minutes and drinking your coffee while it's actually hot.

Yes. That absolutely counts.

Your Monday Challenge

Let's make this week a little more fun.

Instead of asking:

"What do I need to get done?"

Try asking:

"What's one thing I can do today that will make tomorrow a little easier?"

It could be:

  • Put one load of laundry away.

  • Prep tomorrow's breakfast.

  • Fill the gas tank.

  • Make one phone call.

  • Put an appointment on the calendar.

  • Clean one small area.

  • Pack the kids' bags tonight.

  • Go for a walk.

  • Drink more water.

  • Go to bed a little earlier.

  • Ask someone for help.

Just one thing.

You don't have to fix your entire life on Monday.

And If Monday Is Already Feeling Like A Lot...

Sometimes what's making Monday difficult isn't the Monday itself.

It's everything you're carrying into it.

Maybe your family needs groceries.

Maybe you're worried about diapers or baby supplies.

Maybe you're trying to figure out housing.

Maybe transportation is making things harder.

Maybe you're looking for childcare.

Maybe you're trying to find mental health support.

Maybe you simply don't know where to start.

That's exactly why resources and community matter.

KindNest's Resource Library can help Michigan families find organizations and programs that may be able to help with things like food, housing, parenting, mental health, childcare, employment, infant care, and other family needs.

Monday Reminder

You don't need to know exactly how this week is going to go.

You don't need to have everything figured out.

You don't even need to know what you're making for dinner tonight.

One thing at a time.

One morning.

One coffee.

One appointment.

One load of laundry.

One conversation.

One laugh with your kids.

One small win.

And before you know it, Monday will be over.

So whatever version of you showed up today...

Give her some credit.

She showed up.

And that's a pretty good place to start.

Now It's Your Turn

Which Monday are you having?

A. I've Got This
