KindNest Play & Learn is being designed as a low-barrier early learning experience for families who may not currently be enrolled in preschool or who would benefit from additional caregiver-and-child learning opportunities.

KindNest Play & Learn will be especially helpful for families preparing for preschool or kindergarten, children needing additional social opportunities, and caregivers seeking affordable learning ideas.

What a session may include
The proposed pilot would offer 60–90 minute sessions on a weekly or twice-monthly schedule, depending on funding, staffing, host-site availability, and family interest.
Welcome and Open Play
Children settle in, explore the room, and become comfortable with other children and caregivers.
Story and Circle Time
Age-appropriate books, songs, rhymes, movement, and conversation help build familiarity and connection.
Learning Centers
Activities may focus on colors, numbers, letters, sensory exploration, art, building, and imaginative play.
Music and Movement
Children strengthen coordination, listening skills, and confidence through joyful active play.
Caregiver Learning
Adults receive simple ideas, developmental information, and local resources they can use at home.
Take-Home Learning
When funding allows, families may receive books, activity materials, or learning kits to continue at home.
Practical Guidance
Ideas caregivers can realistically use at home without costly materials or complicated lesson plans.
Community Connection
Opportunities to meet other families and build relationships in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Resource Navigation
Connections to preschool, childcare, developmental, food, family wellness, and KindNest support resources.

KindNest plans to begin with a small three- to six-month pilot. The initial phase will help the organization understand family demand, refine activities, gather feedback, and establish responsible operating procedures.

What families should know
Is KindNest Play & Learn currently open?
Not yet. The program is currently being developed. KindNest is working to secure a host location, community partners, qualified program support, and funding.
Is this a preschool?
The initial program is being designed as a caregiver-and-child play-based learning and family enrichment program. It is not currently being presented as a licensed full-day preschool.
Will caregivers stay during sessions?
The proposed pilot is designed for children to attend with a parent, guardian, grandparent, or caregiver.
How much will it cost?
KindNest’s goal is to make the program free or very affordable. Final costs will depend on grants, donations, sponsorships, and operating expenses.
Where will sessions be held?
A permanent host location has not yet been finalized. KindNest is exploring locations in Grand Blanc and the surrounding Genesee County area.
Can my organization become a partner?
Yes. KindNest welcomes conversations with potential host sites, educators, funders, family-service organizations, volunteers, and community partners.
